In preparation for eggs

The lab now houses close to about 100 turtles, including those in an ongoing experiment.

It is the end of May and time for some egg-laying! In preparation for the upcoming busy weeks, I’ve dried a couple bins of sand and rummaged through drawers and shelves in search for supplies. Over the past few days, Dr. Rimkus has been bringing in turtles and tanks, and now there’s pretty much no free spot in the floor anymore. I am now in charge of 48 female painted turtles, three red-eared sliders, and one river cooter. Never has the turtle lab been this busy.
